Rose Choice

This is a complicated and very important prop, I need the rose to be visible in the shots that I use and obvious that its a rose, the connotations attached to it are extremely important so I need it to have the right look, the right colour, the right size etc so I took some stills to help me decide which Rose to use.

Rose No1

Rose No2

Rose No3

Rose No1 has a classic look which again is what I'm going for in the film, Its actually made out of wood which  gives it an upper hand but when photographed its hard to tell that its fake which is a good sign. Rose No2 photographs really well but im not sure about the other flowers with it, I don't want the gesture to seem lavish, just dimple but thoughtful. One of my Actors, Alun, also brought to my attention that having a real Rose could cause problems with continuity if we have to shoot on two separate occasions. Rose No3 is made out of plastic which is positive however it is black and I feel a black Rose could send a different message than I initially want in this scene.
I will be using Rose No1 for filming as it has proved to be close to the description of the Rose I wanted as well as being efficient and hard waring in comparison to a real Rose.

Apron choices

I want everything to be as close to how I imagined it so I borrowed a few aprons from Hawthorns to analyse and choose which ones I want the girls to wear in the designated scenes, I took a few pictures so I could get an idea of what they would look like on film.

Apron No1

Apron No2

Apron No 3

Apron No1 doesn't seem to capture very well on camera so I don't think its a good idea to try and use it, Aprons No 2 and No 3 are both good however the classic blue and white stripes on No3 really help portray what i want from the costumes, that these girls work in an average job which requires them to use standard aprons on shift. So after my analysis I will be using Aprons No 3 in my film.

Counting Props

PROPS

I need to make a list of the props I will need and make sure they are accessible for the film date so I have gone through the script and come up with a few key items we will be needing.

  1. Rose
  2. Mop
  3. Laptop
  4. Hawthorns Sign
  5. Aprons

Wardrobe issues

I do have some ideas when it comes to what my characters will wear for the shoot so I have decided to take some photo's of the options we have and make a collective decision with my actors present so I can have some feedback on the verdict.

I want Yasmin to come across slightly innocent so a dress or something simple would work well with her character.

I've picked this simple plain outfit it doesnt overpower anything else in shot and grey is an important colour in my film

I also want her to have changed by the time she gets to work into more appropriate attire such as jeans and a T-shirt

I have chosen to dress daisy in simple clothes the whole way through as she is only a supporting role I do not want the audience to focus on her character too much.

I decided that it would be best to cover up my male actor as much as possible wearing a coat and even a hat if possible in mundane colours or shades such as grey and black.

I also needed two aprons for the work scene one for Yasmin and one for Daisy.

January Schedule

Me and my actors have spent the day working out our schedules for January to try and squeeze in two dates for filming that complies with all of us and have put together a calendar to provide the options we have so we can all make a mutual decision on when is best for all of us.
The equipment is not accessible until the next term starts so the calendar will be starting from the 4th of January.
